General Discussion / Site construction and maintenance
« Last post by gethralkin on October 25, 2019, 04:22:51 PM »
So, this thread is to list the issues that currently exist with the site/forum.

The most commented on topic is the Gallery search tool, http://www.swpocketmodels.com/gallery.php

Trying to use it returns the following error:

Warning: mysqli_select_db() expects parameter 1 to be mysqli, string given in /home/content/08/11728508/html/galleryresults.php on line 12
MySQL connection failed.

This is likely to an update to the php version with the server host dropping the database that contains all the information on the units and cards. This part of the site very likely just needs to be rebuilt.

That could only be done by someone with login credentials to your GoDaddy account. And I don't have those ;)

Yeah, this site is a monthly thing, too. It seems that GoDaddy wants to change it's contract format. I said "no" to it until I have assurance that migration will not destroy the databases like it did last time, AND because I don't have that kind of loose change lying around in the couch seats.

In any case, they also just sent me this message regarding something that I hadn't used yet, but intended to when things were fixed and we had more members coming in:

We are removing unused Workspace free email credits from your account in 30 days.

Some time back, you bought a domain or hosting (or something) from us and we threw in some free credits to set up a Workspace email account. Because we no longer offer Workspace email as a free product option, in 30 days we’re removing the unused credits from your account. If you already activated a free email credit, there won’t be any disruption.

Anyway, it would be nice to retain the credits, so if you could set up the email and use the credits, that would be fantastic.

That's awesome, thanks. We have really had a hard time filtering the spam out for a long time. Not needing to worry about it is a relief!

I'm baffled that they want cash up front? I'm paying monthly.

No conclusion yet. They just called again today and asked if I had thought more on it. They want to offer a $300 for 3 years or a a $500 for 6 years contract, but I don't have those kinds of lump sums stashed anywhere.

For now, they aren't forcing anyone to migrate to a new server, so I'm not in a hurry.

Awesome, thanks!

Earlier this year, I was looking into trying to get a captcha thing working but I hadn't gotten far with that.

Hello everybody,

I've implemented a plugin that should make the admins life a bit easier. From now on new users will be checked against the database of https://www.stopforumspam.com/ and marked as SPAM if they show up in the DB.
